Verification and AML
Why We Verify
Verification protects our players, our platform and the wider financial system. We accept players only from regions where this is legal under local law, and we follow Canadian requirements on age, identity checks and anti-money laundering. Knowing who you are lets us:
- Make sure every account holder is 19 or older.
- Stop fraud and identity theft, and block payments made with stolen card or account details.
- Stop criminal funds from passing through casino accounts.
- Keep self-excluded players from opening new accounts.
- Pay withdrawals safely to the rightful owner.
Identity checks take place before any deposit. Additional checks can follow at later stages, for example ahead of a withdrawal, when activity changes, or on entry to the VIP Club.
PEP and Sanctions Screening
We screen each account at sign-up and periodically thereafter. One element is determining whether a player currently occupies, or previously occupied, a prominent role in public life, which makes them a politically exposed person (PEP). Relatives of a PEP, and anyone closely connected to them, are checked in the same way.
Each player is also checked separately against recognised sanctions lists. A match will not automatically lead to refusal; instead it triggers enhanced checks, closer monitoring and approval by senior staff before play may resume. If Canadian law forbids the relationship, we decline it or bring it to an end.
Failed Verification
If we are unable to verify who you are, your age, where you are or where your funds come from, these steps apply:
- Deposits and play stay on hold until the issue is settled.
- Withdrawals are held while checks remain open.
- Documents that appear altered, expired or belonging to someone else are rejected.
- Accounts opened with false details are closed, and winnings obtained through them can be withheld.
- Where we have grounds to suspect financial crime, we act as Canadian law requires and may be unable to tell you about it.
Most delays clear quickly once we receive clear, valid documents.
Source of Funds
For higher levels of activity, or where a pattern raises questions, we ask where the money used for play comes from. In some cases we also ask how you built your overall wealth. Acceptable evidence can include:
- Payslips or an employment contract.
- Bank statements showing regular income.
- Documents confirming a property sale, inheritance or investment proceeds.
- Tax documents or business accounts for self-employed players.
Withdrawal limits vary with your chosen payment method and your account status, and larger sums may only be released after fuller verification.
Identity and Age Checks
We confirm your home address, legal name and birth date, then compare them with your account details. Many of these checks run electronically and require no upload from you. Where electronic checks are not possible, we request documents such as:
- Identity: unexpired photo identification from a government body (passport, driver's licence or equivalent) that clearly shows your full name, birth date and face.
- Address: a recent document mailed to your home address, such as a utility bill, a statement from your bank or correspondence from a government office.
- Payment ownership: evidence that you hold the account you pay with. Accepted examples include a bank statement for Interac e-Transfer, Online Banking / Trustly or eCheck, a screenshot of your PayPal or Apple Pay account, or a photo of your Visa, Mastercard or American Express card with the middle digits covered.
- Selfie check: occasionally, a picture showing you holding your identity document.
All four corners of each document must be in view and the text must be legible. We reject any file that has been cropped or edited. Withdrawals are paid in Canadian dollars (CAD) and can be sent only to a method of payment held in your name.
Record Keeping and Reporting
Records of verification, transactions and screening are kept for as long as Canadian law requires, held securely and accessible only to authorised staff. Our reporting obligations cover:
- Reporting suspicious transactions and attempted transactions to the authorities as required.
- Reporting large cash equivalent and other prescribed transactions where they apply.
- Cooperating with lawful requests from law enforcement.
How we store and protect personal data is explained in our Privacy Notice.
Ongoing Monitoring
Verification does not end once an account is open. We monitor activity continuously and look closely at:
- Deposit patterns that do not match what we know about a player.
- Rapid deposits that are cashed out again after only minimal gameplay.
- Frequent changes of payment method, or the use of methods owned by another person.
- Multiple accounts connected through shared devices, addresses or payment details.
- Unusual betting patterns across the Lobby, Jackpots or Live Casino.
We can refresh earlier checks at any point, for instance when documents expire or account details change. Prohibited conduct and account restrictions are described further in our Player Agreement.
